Noteworthy Christian Blogs, Part 2

This is part 2 of the mini-series on Noteworthy Christian Blogs. See part 1 here.

[Tech tip reminder: I don't use email subscriptions for any Christian blogs.  Instead, I use an RSS reader called Feedly; the free version is more than sufficient for my needs.]

The Master's Seminary

This is the seminary linked with Grace Community Church, John MacArthur's church.  The articles are written primarily by graduates and faculty of the seminary.  Its target audience is primarily two groups: (1) men aspiring to the pastorate, especially young men who are struggling through discerning their calling, and (2) pastors ministering in churches all around the world who may need encouragement or instruction.

I find this blog helpful because I fit the first group of their target audience.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Consider following if you're interested in ministry.

9Marks

This is Mark Dever's ministry to the global church.  Every quarter, it publishes a journal of a dozen or so articles about a particular topic relevant to the church.  The last three have been The Pastor and Pornography, Pastoral Burnout, and Our True Political Witness.  In addition, Mark Dever and Jonathan Leeman host a podcast called "Pastors' Talk" touching on church topics relevant for pastors.

Although this site is geared towards pastors, I appreciate the careful and concerned attitude that they take in addressing many of these church issues.  Even if I don't find myself agreeing with some of their conclusions, their perspective always gives me material to chew on.

If you're interested in diving into church polity, church membership, and other crucial matters related to the life of the church, consider following.

The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW)

This ministry exists to teach the church what it means to be a biblical man and a biblical woman.  Its main ministry is to provide a united rallying point for evangelical leaders advocating for a biblical understanding of gender and sexuality.  It recently helped create the Nashville Statement, and it produces conferences, podcasts, and blog articles about biblical sexuality.

It is a sad reality that our modern age demands that such a ministry exists.  If our culture is confused about what truly makes a man a man and what makes a woman a woman, can it get any worse?

Consider following if you want to be in the know about the latest Christian responses to the sexual revolution of our modern culture.

Association of Certified Biblical Counselors

The ACBC is a ministry that helps Christians counsel one another with Scripture to live out the commands of Scripture.  Their main ministry is providing course material and certification to those who desire to help the church by providing biblical counseling.  They also have conferences, online courses, and local counselors.

Biblical counseling has grown in popularity in recent years, and for good reason.  My first introduction to the realm of biblical counseling came through Dr. John Street, when he preached at a church retreat in 2013 about forgiveness.  I don't think I've ever been the same since.  My church’s elders and a few of my friends are going through the ACBC certification program, and the fruit has been a blessing to my church.

If you're interested in learning how to apply Scripture to the various issues of Christian life, for the benefit of the fellow members of your church, consider following.

Kevin DeYoung, TGC

DeYoung is the pastor of Christ Covenant Church, a PCA church in North Carolina.  He's preaches as part of the T4G team and is probably best known for his many approachable books on topics like holiness, prayer, busyness, inerrancy, and Christian living.

I always appreciate DeYoung's articles, but I'm not exactly sure why.  It's probably because he seems like such an ordinary guy, serving the Lord well with his talents — and that is always commendable in God's sight.

If you're interested in learning how to put Scripture into practice from a man who is following in the steps of godly, faithful men, consider following.
